An atmospheric room photograph can leave the curtain itself unexplained. Separate complete hanging views, pleat details, header construction and fabric close-ups so each image contributes product information.
Confirm whether the sale item is a finished curtain, curtain fabric or a set with accessories. Hanging views show drape and pleats; header and side views explain construction; close-ups show the real sample’s texture.
Start with the product: Curtains
Confirm whether the sale item is a finished curtain, curtain fabric or a set with accessories. Hanging views show drape and pleats; header and side views explain construction; close-ups show the real sample’s texture.
Identify the actual sale item, product name, style code and intended page position before choosing white-background, flat lay, room or detail views. Base the shot count on product differences and information needs rather than copying a standard package.
Give each image a specific job
One image rarely explains shape, construction and use equally well. Separate the shots by task so the team can check each requirement during capture and delivery review.
| Image task | What it should explain | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Complete hanging view | Overall drop and open or closed arrangement | Keep the extent and pattern direction clear |
| Header construction | Hooks, eyelets or the actual pleated heading | Photograph the version being sold |
| Fabric close-up | Weave, pattern and front-to-reverse relationship | Do not infer fiber composition or light-blocking percentage |
| Edges and hem | Binding, joins and lower-edge details | Keep the sample’s actual construction visible |
Confirm the product information before shooting
Confirm whether the offer includes one panel, a pair, lining, tiebacks or hardware. Obtain approved width, drop and header information, and identify the actual hanging method before setting the scene. A photograph cannot establish a blackout percentage or thermal rating; those statements need separate evidence supplied and approved by the brand.
Light-blocking percentage, sound reduction, insulation, flame resistance, dimensions, fiber content and care instructions need approved supporting information. A lighting effect in one room at one time is not a performance test.
- Finished curtain or fabric sales description
- Style, color, pattern and both sides
- Actual hanging method and included accessories
- Approved dimensions and light-blocking information
- Product-page, catalog or room-scene use
Connect main images, details and use scenes
Plan a full hanging view for outline and drape, then photograph the header, pleats, hem and fabric separately. A window scene can show appearance under stated lighting conditions, but exposure changes must not imply a performance comparison. Keep rails, furniture and accessories identifiable as props unless they are included in the offer.
